We’ll help you choose and show you how to make the entries and how to check what you have done.

For the smallest businesses a manual system of bookkeeping is probably going to be the cheapest and easiest solution. Such a system can be based on “Cathedral” analysed cash books or on a spreadsheet such as Microsoft’s Excel. We’ll help you choose and show you how to make the entries and how to check what you have done.

Software – For larger businesses, the leading software is SAGE. You will need training in how to use SAGE and we are an authorised provider. SAGE will maintain your accounting records and enable you or us to prepare monthly or quarterly management accounts.

In the last couple of years “cloud accounting” has become increasingly popular.  This is a bookkeeping and accounting system that you use over the internet.  You download the software and pay a monthly licence.  Your accounting data is held on a computer server, usually located in the UK, but sometimes in the USA.  If you grant us access, we can view what you have done on a weekly or monthly basis, suggest corrections and prepare monthly or quarterly management accounts.

We deal with all levels of bookkeeping and can advise you on an appropriate system.

We can advice on the choice of a multitude of software accounting packages and are agents for SAGE and Xero. If you’re not sure which to choose, we can give you brief demonstrations and provide advice, based on our experience of other clients of similar size.

Having a reliable bookkeeping system which you update monthly will go a long way to reducing accountancy fees for preparing annual accounts.
