No doubt, like us, you are all to some extent wrestling with the whirlwind of issues and pronouncements that the Government are releasing daily at their Press Conference.

There is no doubt they are putting some unprecedented resources behind ensuring that we all have the semblance of an economy to return to after this virus subsides.

The main thing we all must adhere to is the advice on keeping ourselves, our families and our respective teams safe in these difficult times. I’m sure you agree that is our number one priority.

But at the same time, we need to ensure that our businesses will also survive this pandemic and as such, we need to respond quickly to the ever changing environment around us. We at BTMR, have already had many calls to discuss the options that we all have to ensure we come out of this at the other end. Please be assured we are here to help any of our clients best protect themselves in the short term. And at the same time, we need to try and carry on as best we can with all the usual things we do. So your accounts, your VAT, your book keeping and your various statutory returns still need to be prepared. In fact there is an argument that we need to be more diligent about these things right now than ever before to ensure we have up to date information to rely upon so we can make the best decisions about our futures.

One of the best websites to keep an eye on at present is the Government’s own as this is being constantly updated. I set out below the link;

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-employers-and-businesses-about-covid-19/covid-19-support-for-businesses

Whist the above site will advise you of the current issues and assistance, even that is short on detail as the civil servants try to keep pace with the Government’s daily pronouncements. We at BTMR are doing our level best to research the operational detail on your behalf and so if there is anything you require more information about then please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our level best to assist you.

I know that a lot of you have already expressed interest in last Friday’s pronouncement about the “Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme”. Some more detail is now emerging and there will be more to come.

As for ourselves, we are continuing to operate as normally as possible. We have some of our team working from home but are still fully accessible to you all in the same ways as before. Their contact numbers and email addresses remain the same.

As for client meetings, we are happy to adapt to whatever you prefer. We are still undertaking face to face meeting and client visits for accounts review, management accounts preparation and year end assignments as before. However if you prefer, we can also undertake some of these on a remote basis either by Video Links or group conferencing.

Please be assured that we are here to help in any way possible. Between us all we will ensure we get through this and weather the storm.

Keep safe.
Robert
